Here you walk beside the drop. Le Havre and Sainte-Adresse open onto the Côte d'Albâtre: white chalk dropping sheer into the Channel, hanging valleys and a coastal path that runs beside the void.

Cap de la Hève, north of Sainte-Adresse, marks the start of that coast running to Le Tréport. The cliffs retreat some twenty centimetres a year: paths are regularly rerouted, so follow the most recent waymarking.

East, Aumale, Blangy-sur-Bresle and Neslette give the Pays de Bray, a geological buttonhole of hedgerow and forest, unrelated to the coast.

When to go — All year; spring and autumn give the best light on the chalk, and the cliff paths call for care in strong wind.
