About OpenRando
Our mission
OpenRando was born from a simple observation: hikers deserve a free, intuitive and comprehensive tool to organize their outings. Too many existing platforms are paid, complex or don't allow you to easily manage your own GPX tracks. OpenRando offers a free and open alternative: import your GPX files, explore over 44,000 trails shared by the community, and navigate on the ground with your phone — even without an Internet connection.
The creator
OpenRando is created and maintained by Hugo Gualtieri, a DevOps engineer based in the South of France. A passionate hiker for several years — from the Calanques of Marseille to Alpine passes, through the Luberon and the Gorges du Verdon — Hugo built OpenRando to meet his own hiking needs: centralizing his tracks, discovering new trails and sharing his favourite routes with the community. Every blog article is written from personal experience on the trails of Provence and South-East France.

Our values
OpenRando is free and will remain so. We believe that access to hiking trails and planning tools should not be reserved for those who can afford a subscription. The site is funded by non-intrusive advertising (Google AdSense) on blog and explore pages, to cover hosting costs while keeping the service accessible to all. We respect your privacy: no data resale, no intrusive tracking, and full transparency about how your information is used.
