Hikes in Cassis - La Ciotat
The coast between Cassis and La Ciotat offers exceptional coastal hikes. Cap Canaille, France's highest maritime cliff (394m), and the Route des Cretes reveal vertiginous panoramas over the Mediterranean. Trails alternate between fragrant garrigue, hidden coves and spectacular viewpoints over the Riou archipelago islands. The Cap Canaille loop from Cassis (11 km) is one of the finest coastal trails in the South of France, with sheer drops of several hundred metres to the sea. The Mugel park in La Ciotat offers an easy seaside botanical walk, ideal for families. The coves of Figuerolles and Mugel allow you to combine hiking and swimming. Wind can blow strongly on the ridges — bring an extra layer even in summer. Spring and autumn are the best seasons to enjoy the trails without the summer crowds.
