The Hauts-de-Seine offer more walking ground than you would expect. Chaville and Meudon give onto the Meudon and Fausses-Reposes state forests, more than a thousand wooded hectares reachable by train from Paris, with ponds and small valleys.

The relief is real: a median gain of a hundred metres, taken on the slopes above the Seine. The Meudon terrace and observatory give open views over Paris.

Boulogne-Billancourt, Puteaux and Antony complete the picture with the Seine meanders, the Parc de Sceaux and the green corridors linking the towns.

When to go — Autumn is the best season in the Meudon forest. Watch the clay soils, slippery after rain.

OpenRando lists 48 hiking routes in Hauts-de-Seine. The median distance is 8.9 km, and most routes fall between 4.7 and 23.0 km — from an afternoon loop to a full day out.
