Here almost everything leads back to the coast. The GR34, the old customs path, runs the whole way round and carries most of the routes: the Crozon peninsula from Crozon, Camaret-sur-Mer and Roscanvel, Pointe Saint-Mathieu from Le Conquet, the abers from Landéda.

Elevation gain stays modest — under 80 metres median — but that fools no one: the endless drop to a cove and climb back onto the cliff tires you more than the number suggests. The wind shows up on no profile at all.

Inland, the Monts d'Arrée show another face: bare moorland, peat bogs, exposed rock, a high-mountain feel at 380 metres. It is the one place in the department where you can feel far from the sea.

When to go — All year, helped by the oceanic mildness; spring brings the gorse into flower and autumn the best light, while winter stays walkable but wind-exposed.

OpenRando lists 990 hiking routes in Finistère. The median distance is 8.9 km, and most routes fall between 4.2 and 17.5 km — from an afternoon loop to a full day out.

On the climbing side, the median elevation gain is 77 m, and the most demanding routes exceed 206 m. Enough range to pick your effort by season and by form.

The most common starting points cluster around: Crozon, Le Conquet, Camaret-sur-Mer, Roscanvel, Landéda, Lampaul-Plouarzel. Every route comes with its GPX track, elevation profile and interactive map.
