Corse-du-Sud has the island's steepest median gain after the northern high country. Routes split between Ajaccio and the west coast — Piana with its red porphyry calanches, Serra-di-Ferro — and the inland Alta Rocca, around Quenza and Carbini.

The Alta Rocca is the south's real walking country: laricio pine forest, the Bavella needles, the Coscione plateau and the Mare a Mare Sud crossing coast to coast. Villages perch high, and some paths are still cobbled.

On the shore, the customs paths of the Parata headland or the Gulf of Porto give short, very exposed walks, with rock colours found nowhere else.

When to go — April–June and September–October; summer is punishing on the coast, while the Alta Rocca stays workable later thanks to altitude and pine shade.

OpenRando lists 793 hiking routes in Corse-du-Sud. The median distance is 7.5 km, and most routes fall between 3.0 and 16.9 km — from an afternoon loop to a full day out.

On the climbing side, the median elevation gain is 227 m, and the most demanding routes exceed 682 m. Enough range to pick your effort by season and by form.

The most common starting points cluster around: Ajaccio, Quenza, Piana, Carbini, Serra-di-Ferro, Villanova. Every route comes with its GPX track, elevation profile and interactive map.
